Introducing 3M Envision Wrap Film and 3M Envision Gloss Wrap
Overlaminate
3M Commercial Graphicsis changing the graphics world again with 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films, part of a new line of products that offer leading edge
technology and best-in-class performance with a sustainability edge. As the world’s first high-performance, non-polyvinyl chloride (non-PVC) graphic
films, 3M™ Envision™ Print Wrap Film 480Cv3 and 3M™ Envision™ Gloss Wrap Overlaminate 8548G outperform not just non-PVC wrap films, but all wrap films.
High Performance
For applications that demand outstanding performance,3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films provide groundbreaking solutions:
• High application versatility:3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films can be used to wrap vehicles, trailers, box trucks, boats, buses, motorcycles,
textured walls and more.
• Highly conformable: Films go down, around and into flat or complex shapes and stay down. The innovative 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Filmsstretch
up to 150 percent when you want them to and will not lift.
• Installs in extreme temperatures:When it’s warm, 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films won’t get too soft or stretch out of control. In cooler weather, the
film maintains a soft feel and won’t become brittle and tear. Apply some heat, and the film conforms on demand.
• Faster removal: Because of their greater tensile strength,3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films resist tearing. This enables faster, cleaner removal in bigger
pieces.
• Exceptional clarity:3M™ Envision™ Gloss Wrap Overlaminate 8548G offers the same beautiful gloss and clarity as 3M™ Scotchcal™ Gloss
Overlaminate 8518. What’s more, it is less prone to scratching than gloss cast vinyl. It looks great from the get-go and doesn’t need to
sit in the sun for days to diminish the scratches.
• Very durable:3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films offer protection against UV rays, high temperatures and even acid dew. They even come with a
horizontal warranty.
• Slideability, snap-up (repositionability) and air release properties: The characteristicsthat have made 3M films an industry favorite are also
found in 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films.
• Excellent printability: Envision wrap films are compatible with latex, UV and some solvent inkjet inks. They are also compatible with UV
and solvent screen printing inks. See 3M’s Product Bulletin for details on printer and ink recommendations.
The industry is already raving about the film’s performance and ease of use:
“I liked the performance of this material over 3M™ Controltac™ Wrap Film with Comply™ v3 Adhesive IJ380Cv3,” said Eldon Young of Image
Graphics Premier Applicators in Waconia, Minn. “It performs well even in the sun, which is something that all installers are obviously
going to like. A lot of times you have to fight film to line it up, because it stretches differently every time you pull the liner paper off in the sun.
This film stays even.”
“Many of our installations are done at a customer’s facility, so this new film will help make on-site installations easier,” said Todd Stuart of Sign
Zoo in Sarasota, Fla. “Some films get soft and curl in 80 and 90?F temperatures, but 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films give our installers the ability to
use them confidently in the heat.”
“This film [3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films] is exactly what I expected from a 3M product,” said Samuel Twomey of The Mad Striper in
Murfreesboro, Tenn. “It’s very positionable and we’ve had no problem getting it to conform to the compound curves and extremely tight
spots on vehicles.”
Sustainability
In addition to their high performance, 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films are also more sustainable, allowing graphic manufacturers to offer greener options.
Features include:
• Non-PVC
• No added chlorine or other halogens during manufacturing
• Phthalate-free: 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films do not contain phthalates.
• Contributes to LEED® Credits:Using 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films helps contribute to LEED® credits when used to make graphic films that can
be used for refurbishment applications.
• Uses less solvent: The manufacturing process of 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films uses 60 percent less solvent.
• Made in part with bio-based materials.
“We are continually looking for ways to offer a more sustainable solution, and the new 3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films are an outstanding testament to
that,” said Tim Boxeth, marketing manager for 3M Commercial Graphics. “We are especially proud that the performance of these more sustainable
films surpasses that of traditional films. Users should know that they will not sacrifice quality by making the greener choice.”
3M™ Envision™ Wrap Films are backed by the same 3M™ MCS™ Warranty and Performance Guarantee that users trust.
3M Introduces the First Graphic Films that Optimize LED Light
3M Commercial Graphics is helping graphics manufacturers and sign builders embrace the future with LED lighting. New 3M™ Envision™ Translucent
Films and 3M™ Envision™ Diffuser Films are industry breakthroughs – the first graphic films optimized for use with LEDs – letting graphics manufacturers
achieve maximum sign face brightness while requiring fewer light sources. Now, sign shops no longer need to add more LEDs to reach the level of
brilliance they want.
3M™ Envision™ Translucent and Diffuser Films help graphics manufacturers create richly colored backlit signs with even sign illumination and no hot spots.
Using these films, shops can achieve the same level of brightness with fewer LEDs, reducing material and maintenance costs while providing the great
look that customers expect.1 Alternately, graphics manufacturers can keep the same number of LEDs and increase a sign’s brightness even more.
With the following films, shops have appealing new choices to create the looks they want:
• 3M™ Envision™ Translucent Film Series 3730
• 3M™ Envision™ Translucent Film IJ3730-50, IJ3730-60
• 3M™ Envision™ Diffuser Film 3735-50, 3735-60
While specially optimized for use with LEDs, these new diffusers and translucent films are also compatible with fluorescent lights, and will allow any
backlit sign to look its best. The diffuser films are available with two levels of light transmission, 50% and 60%, to manage sign face brightness. The
translucent films are available in several standard colors, custom colors and as an inkjet printable film, offering an increased number of construction
options.
“Sustainability is increasingly important in today’s graphics industry,” said Tony Fulco, marketing manager, 3M Commercial Graphics. “3M is proud to
provide the market with graphic solutions that deliver outstanding sustainability benefits without sacrificing performance.”
3M™ Envision™ Translucent and Diffuser Films are backed by the 3M™ MCS™ Warranty, giving graphics manufacturers added assurance of the
performance of their finished graphics.
3M Commercial Graphics and Knifeless Tech Systems have entered into an exclusive partnership to give graphic film installers a revolutionary installation
tool that lets them cut quickly without a blade, delivering a sharp edge that is perfectly straight or curvy. The combination of 3M’s high performance
films—like Controltac brand Graphic Film with Comply brand v3 Adhesive IJ180Cv3 from 3M—with Knifeless Tape gives installers a combination that will
have them saying, “wow!”
The incredible power of Knifeless Tape is in a high strength filament that is embedded in the center of the tape. To use, Knifeless Tape is applied to the
vehicle body wherever cuts will be needed, prior to the application of the graphic film. The film is then applied, after which the installer simply pulls the
high strength filament in the tape, producing the fastest, sharpest cuts ever made on a vehicle wrap. To finish, installers simply re-squeegee the edges,
as is done in all installations.
With Knifeless Tape, installers never have to worry about scratching paint with a knife. The tape is extremely flexible and turns smoothly in any
direction, conforming to even the tightest contours and edges of any surface it is applied to. It can also be pulled straight, creating precise cut lines.
The excess tape removes cleanly after the filament is pulled, leaving absolutely no residue behind.
“We are so confident in the value of this system that we use it in the 3M Advanced Installer Training Class,” said Tim Boxeth, marketing manager for
3M Commercial Graphics. “We know that our customers want solutions that help them reach the next level in performance, and Knifeless Tape does
just that.”
“We are excited to exclusively team up with 3M, the leader in graphic films, to bring this great solution to graphics installers,” said Thomas Ross, VP sales
and marketing for Knifeless Tech Systems. “We know that efficiency and precision are always important on the shop floor, and this solution gives installers
both.”
3M Scotchprint Wrap Film Series 1080 Expands Color Offerings
3M Commercial Graphics introduces five new colors to its popular line of 3M™ Scotchprint® Wrap Film Series 1080, bringing users an even greater number
of out-of-the-ordinary finishes, textures and color options to create customized vehicle wraps that stand out from the crowd. The new colors include:
· Matte Pink 1080-M103
· Matte Orange 1080-M54
· Matte Blue Metallic 1080-M227
· Gloss Red Metallic 1080-G203
· Satin Black 1080-S12
These new colors increase the selection to a total of 39 options in the line, including carbon fiber and brushed metal textures, as well as matte and
high gloss finishes.
“3M's finishes are excellent,” said Erik Bond, owner of Spin Imaging in Long Beach, Calif. “For example, a matte finish shouldn't be too chalky or too
glossy; it has to be a good happy medium. 3M definitely achieves that with film series 1080.”
Film series 1080 is a removable cast film for vehicle detailing, decoration and full wraps. The product is designed with a pressure-activated adhesive
that allows it to slide and be repositioned until firm pressure is applied—the same innovative installation feature found on other Controltac brand graphic
films with Comply adhesive from 3M. The film's unique, non-visible air release channels help installers achieve fast, easy, and virtually bubble-free
installations.
“Film series 1080 is easily installed and easily removed,” said Bond, “It’s a thinner material, so you can get into a lot of areas you can’t get into with other
film.”
Installers around the world have discovered the unique benefits of film series 1080. Backed by the 3M™ MCS™ Warranty, film series 1080 is a reliable
choice that performs. The film can be used right out of the box, with no need to apply an overlaminate. Manufactured with two color layers for
dimensional stability and durability, the film is removable for up to three years, making it easy to change the look of a vehicle.
With 39 color options and outstanding ease of use, it’s easy to see how film series 1080 sets a new standard in wrap films and helps users achieve
unique, head-turning looks.

Introducing the Newest Addition to
3M™ Scotchprint® Wrap Film Series 1080: Brushed Black Metallic
3M Commercial Graphics announces the introduction of a stunning new color/finish combination to its 3M™ Scotchprint® Wrap Film Series 1080 –
Brushed Black Metallic. The unique film color was selected in the recent Wrap Battle: 1080 contest, which asked fans of the product to vote for their
favorite new color and finish on Facebook. More than 500 fans of 3M Commercial Graphics cast their votes, with Brushed Black Metallic emerging as
the clear winner among the nine contenders.
“The Brushed Black Metallic film creates a very tough, aggressive look that really pops in the light," said Shareef Khan, CEO of SS Customs, a leading
custom wrap shop based in Redwood City, Calif. “I've used metalized films from other companies in the past, and they don't have anywhere near as
much flexibility or stretchability as Scotchprint Wrap Film Series 1080. We really appreciate the research and development that 3M puts into their films.
You can see in the way that it performs, the way it adheres, and the way the air releases that 3M utilizes the most advanced technology.”
With this new addition, Scotchprint Wrap Film Series 1080 now has 34 head-turning films in carbon fiber, brushed metal, matte and high gloss. As fans
of the product know, film series 1080 makes a distinctive statement, providing industry-leading features and benefits that allow users to get the look just
right, each and every time.
The long-term, removable cast films offer the same great installation features found on 3M™ Controltac™ Graphic Films with Comply™ Adhesive. The
product’s pressure-activated adhesive allows it to slide and be repositioned until firm pressure is applied, with non-visible air release channels that
assure fast, easy, and virtually bubble-free installations. Its 60 inch width means that users can wrap almost any section of a vehicle without seams,
and the film remains removable for up to three years, making it easy to change looks. The film is also backed by the industry leading 3M™ MCS™
Warranty.
3M Commercial Graphics Announces Winner of Wrap Battle: 1080

available in January 2012.
The contest was held on the Facebook page of 3M Commercial Graphics, www.facebook.com/3MGraphics .
After fans voted on their preferred color/finish combination, they were encouraged to share their choice with their Facebook friends, and then were
entered in the sweepstakes to win a roll of the selected film.
Brushed Black Metallic received more than twice the votes of the next nearest finisher. The breakdown of the 554 total votes in the contest was as

“We are constantly evolving and improving our products to give our customers what they want,” said Doug Blackwell, business development manager for
3M Commercial Graphics. “This contest allowed us to communicate directly with users of our products, and we are thrilled with their response. Brushed
black metallic will make an outstanding addition to our line.”
Scotchprint wrap film series 1080 has been embraced by car enthusiasts thanks to its variety of finishes, textures and colors. Film series 1080 is a
long-term, removable, dual-cast film that offers graphics installers the same convenient installation features found on 3M™ Controltac™ Graphic Films with
3M™ Comply™ Adhesive. The film is slideable and repositionable, with a pressure-activated adhesive and non-visible air release channels to allow virtually
bubble-free applications. The film is also backed by the industry leading 3M™ MCS™ Warranty, bringing peace of mind to discriminating users who require
optimum performance.
3M Commercial Graphics announces its most budget-friendly addition to its product line—3M™ Scotchcal™ Graphic Film Series IJ10 and Series IJ11.
Dynamic enough for inkjet printing with UV, solvent, eco solvent and latex inks, Scotchcal graphic film series IJ10 and series IJ11 provide users
with an economy solution.
The films come in 50-meter (164 foot) rolls offering users an extra 63 square feet as compared to typical 50-yard rolls. Perfect for permanent
adhesive applications such as interior and exterior signage, decals and P.O.P. graphics, film series IJ10 and series IJ11 are 3.1-mil vinyl products
with a clear (film IJ10) or gray-colored (film IJ11) permanent, pressure-sensitive adhesive. Available in gloss and matte finishes, the films have a
heavier liner than most comparable competitor products to help the material resist buckling – even through the rigors of digital latex printing. For
added versatility, film IJ10-114 is a clear product that can be used as both a digitally printable clear film and an overlaminate.
“Customers have come to know us for premium products, but we also understand their need for basic, low-cost solutions,” said Adam Larson,
marketing supervisor, 3M Commercial Graphics. “Now, in addition to our premium and intermediate products, film series IJ10 and series IJ11 round
out 3M’s offerings with options for even the most frugal needs. So whether customers want all the bells and whistles, or just the basics, 3M has
the solution.”

3M Commercial Graphics introduces Scotchcal Gloss Overlaminate 8528. This new overlaminate is specifically designed to withstand harsh
environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, ultraviolet rays and acid dew common in Los Angeles and other west coast cities. In regions

Clear advantage with 3M Scotchcal Clear View Printing Film
Natural light, one of the most important things in our life, is made accessible by glass. Glass not only lightens rooms, but influences the atmosphere within them.
Special effects can be created if the glass surfaces are not only used "naked" but have special form or design features. A highly-transparent printable film from
3M will open up new possibilities for the future – in architecture, shop design or advertising on vehicles.
With Scotchcal Clear View Printing Film 8150, 3M has developed the first perfectly transparent cast PVC printing film on the market. Any design can be perfectly
reproduced using digital or screen printing, while unprinted areas allow a perfectly clear view through the glass. This permits a unique combination of print and
transparent surface. It is no longer necessary to cut out printed elements from the film – instead the printed area is an integral part of the film, which is bonded in
its entirety. This means that even filigree details, such as individual hairs, can be represented, and colour gradients can be easily reproduced.
The one-way vision which is desirable in transport advertising can be achieved with the help of a printed hole
matrix, without the need to perforate the film. The high degree of conformability of the PVC film and the innovative
3M bonding system enable easy and fast application even on contoured or curved surfaces such as windscreens.
The result: high-quality glass designs that last up to seven years, covered by the 3M Performance Guarantee.
The new Scotchcal Clear View printable film can also be used in many ways on and inside buildings, enabling
architects and shopfitters to implement creative design ideas for new and existing glass surfaces – for example
on facades, shop windows or in stairwells. For offices and department stores, the film makes it easy to create
individual designs for glass doors, dividing walls and showcases.
Whether for purely decorative or for functional purposes such as advertising or ensuring privacy: Scotchcal
Clear View Film from 3M allows creativity a free rein and offers innovative, high-performance solutions for glass
design using graphics, text and special effects. Despite its hard-wearing qualities, it can be easily removed
when no longer required.

POPAI Research Indicates Window Projection lncreases Store Traffic
(St. Paul, MN, January 4, 2008) - Recent research commissioned by 3M and Point of Purchasing Advertising
International (POPAI), the global association for point-of-sale marketing, demonstrates the effectiveness of back-
projecting dynamic promotional messages onto shop windows using 3M’s Vikuiti™ Rear Projection Film.
In a research project at four high-profile retail locations in The Netherlands involving more than 24,000 shopper
observations and 1,562 interviews, 85% of shoppers thought that the digital video content projected onto the
Vikuiti window screens enhanced each store's image. Recognition of specific promotional messages was also
extremely high - up to 64% of shoppers recalled at least one themed message without prompting and 57% felt
they had learned something from the displays.
"We compared two shops with Vikuiti Rear Projection Film and two without," said Willem Arns, visual marketing
manager, Intersport. "What really stuck out was the attention that the Vikuiti screens received from the passers
by. They were really surprised and we had a huge reach. Intersport is very enthusiastic about this solution. We
see a lot of opportunities for Vikuiti Rear Projection Film and, together with 3M and POPAI, we are discussing
the possibilities."
"The solution drew enormous attention to our shops with passers by and shoppers mentioning that it modernized
T-Mobile’s image," said Eefje Vogelaar, content manager, T-Mobile. "Vikuiti screens really contribute to the
‘experience’ of shopping in T-Mobile outlets and we now have five shops in The Netherlands with Vikuiti Rear
Projection Film installed."
In addition to being highly effective at getting the attention of passers-by, the research demonstrated that the
Vikuiti screens also had a direct impact on customers entering each store with 2.5% of all passers-by entering
because of what they saw on the displays. With more than 100,000 potential shoppers passing by each store
per week, these percentages translated into a significant increase in store traffic.
Researchers studied two Intersport shops and two T-Mobile outlets, each of which showed a mix of thematic
brand messages and promotional clips that were projected onto Vikuiti Rear Projection Film applied to the insides
of store windows.
The Intersport window screens were regarded as innovative by 92% of those interviewed, with 88% agreeing
that the projected content enhanced the mood in the store window.
At the T-Mobile stores 64% of those interviewed spontaneously recalled the promotional messages for mobile
phones that were displayed on the window screens as they entered the store.
"This research demonstrates convincingly that in-window advertising and promotion is more than just window-
dressing - its messages really get through and actually bring in business," said Tom Black, marketing operations
manager, 3M Graphics Market Center. "Vikuiti Rear Projection Film helps retailers to turn passers by into shoppers."
Vikuiti Rear Projection Film
The versatile, self-adhesive Vikuiti Rear Projection Film transforms store windows into a vibrant branding and
promotions tool by allowing video, static images and dynamic messaging to be projected directly onto the
surface. Images can be read easily from long distances and all angles, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Crisp, high-contrast image quality combined with 180-degree viewability, make it ideal for shop fronts with
narrow pavements. Plus, the Vikuiti Film can be cut to any desired shape and size projecting, for example,
company logos and brands.
The Research
POPAI and 3M Netherlands commissioned market research firm Locatus to conduct a study into the
effectiveness of the Vikuiti system in four stores in The Netherlands: the Zwolle and Utrecht branches of the
sports clothing and equipment retailer, Intersport; and Zoetermeer and Utrecht branches of T-Mobile, the
telephone and communications provider. Both Intersport and T-Mobile screens showed customized digital
content comprising a mix of thematic messages and promotional clips.
Researchers conducted a combination of interviews and observations. In total, 821 interviews were carried out
at Intersport and 741 at T-Mobile. In addition, 24,688 observations were recorded.

Jury Rules in Favor of 3M in Patent Infringement Lawsuit
3M Company and 3M Innovative Properties Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of 3M, have won a favorable
verdict in a patent infringement lawsuit filed in the United States District Court in Minnesota against Avery
Dennison Corporation.
A jury in Minneapolis returned the verdict in favor of 3M, finding that 3M's United States Patent No. 5,897,930,
which relates to release liners used in the manufacture and sale of pressure-sensitive adhesives for wide-format
graphics, is valid and has been infringed by Avery Dennison's sales of its EZ Series Fleet Marking Film.
Based on the verdict, 3M will be asking the Court to enter a permanent injunction prohibiting further manufacture
and sales of Avery Dennison's EZ Series Fleet Marking Film products. The amount of damages to be awarded to
3M as a result of Avery Dennison's infringement will be determined at an upcoming Court hearing.
