Enfocus, the leader in PDF quality control, advanced PDF editing and workflow automation for the graphic arts industry announces a revolutionary change coming to PitStop Server. In order to meet the changing needs of the market and our customers, Enfocus is upgrading the power and functionality of PitStop Server, their automated PDF preflight and correction application by stirring in a helping of Switch, their industry leading automation platform.
PitStop Server will get a boost in the form of Switch user functionality. All of the automation advantages of Switch Core will be available in PitStop Server 2020. Users are looking for more automation and one of the major requirements is to improve job onboarding. Automating the receiving of a PDF and processing it through production so it is press ready. The new PitStop Server functionality will meet customer needs now and position them to grow their automation capabilities in the future.
“Our customers need not only PDF handling, but also more efficient automation around it. The market demands faster, leaner product delivery. Hot-folder based technology is no longer an optimal way to automate. It’s time for PitStop Server to take our customers’ workflow further and offer them more opportunities. So, we offer not only best in class PDF preflight and correction, but also new flexible capabilities to broaden automation,” says Senior Product Manager, Andrew Bailes-Collins.
What Switch Core brings to the mix:
• Flexible workflows without folder structure limitations
• Browser based job tracking and overview using job boards
• Automatic file reception and delivery via FTP and email
• File sorting and routing based on file type, file naming, and job and document variables
• File renaming and archiving
• Split and merge PDF files
• Zip and unzip job folders
• Conversion of PDF to JPEG
• Access to the Enfocus Appstore for integrating third-party solutions
Helping current users make the transition is also part of the Enfocus strategy for a better PitStop Server. Beginning with the PitStop 2020 release, users with a PitStop Server license and maintenance contract will be entitled to a Switch Core 2020 license, which will be delivered when it releases in June. Switch Core integrates with PitStop Server and will add functionality on top of the current PitStop Server functionality, so users can migrate their PitStop Server workflows to include the new capabilities when they are ready. The goal is to transition users to the new way of working over several years, rather than suddenly presenting them with rapid change that they are obliged to adopt.
