Windows are an interesting medium. Modern offices love the open, airy look. However, the transparency can sometimes lead to concerns with privacy, security, energy costs, and UV glare and damage. The answer lies in window films. From a simple frosted look to elaborate decorative prints, organizations utilize window space for functionality and aesthetics.
Based in Plymouth, MA, New England Window Film is well versed at maximizing the potential of interior windows for both residential and commercial spaces. The company offers the gamut of window treatment options from tinting residential windows to high-end decorative window films.
Established in 1985 it has three staff members and operates out of one 26,000 square foot location. To print its decorative graphics, New England Window Film relies on a range of devices, including an EFI VUTEk UV LED printer.
According to Tom Wallace, owner, New England Window Film, its ideal customer is anyone that has a big floor space and dozens of glass cubicles or offices. With this setup, it is able to add functionality like privacy and security, as well as visual appeal such as a feature window wall that shifts the look and feel of the space.

Decorate Your Space
New England Window Film’s primary focus is decorative films, which incorporate a variety of effects, including elegant frosts, graphic patterns, modern gradients, realistic textures, and distinctive specialties. Frost films are meant to ensure privacy and diffuse light, graphic patterns are available in multiple designs and varying levels of opacity, gradient films partially hide unappealing views or add a fresh design, realistic textures refract light and simulate textured glass windows, and distinctive specialties mask light, add privacy, or incorporate pops of color.
The company has a wide portfolio to showcase its skills in this area.
Creating Comfort
New England Window Film teamed up with a well-known medical facility in New England to upgrade the look and feel of its MRI labs. This multi-function job was intended to add a bit of privacy, but also create something to bring patients’ minds at ease while waiting on stressful medical procedures.
While regular frosted glass would have done the trick functionally, the client wanted to go the extra mile and designed window treatments featuring plant life meant to resemble x-rays. It was a worldwide effort with a designer out of England, an architect from Spain, and of course, a printer and installer out of MA.
In total, the x-ray art covered more than 20 windows. New England Window Film printed the designs at 1,000 dpi on an EFI VUTEk UV LED printer onto media from Lintec of America, Inc.
Pop of Brand
Window graphics are used for many functions, including messaging. A beloved coffee chain based out of MA is working through a rebrand from Dunkin’ Donuts to Dunkin’. This means many franchisees are updating signage to reflect the new name.
New England Window Film was called on to help with the remodel of an older Dunkin’ storefront model. The owners wanted light to pass through and create a more permanent installation of its window signage.
This particular job was a bit challenging as many of the coffee brand’s graphic themes involved printing on white vinyl where you can only see the printed side.

Making Space
Office expansions require many considerations, aesthetics for one. Window treatments can help with this as well. New England Window film recently helped with an office buildout for HP. The company was tasked with matching a metal office partition onto an existing industrial-looking metal pattern.
The end result was a pattern of three-inch rounded squares that were printed color, white, color at 1,000 dpi on the EFI VUTEk using Lintec media.
Wallace points out that keeping the patterns aligned panel to panel without cropping out a block was challenging for this project.
Delicate Distraction
For another office window, a data company chose a design of binary digits to notify people of a large glass panel to prevent accidents, while also maintaining the window’s primary function—to see through it. This job was about 1,000 square feet, and also printed with the EFI VUTEk and Lintec media.
All Purpose
Window films have a range of purposes. Mostly practical, decorative window films also bring an appealing look to any type of environment. As New England Window Film’s extensive portfolio illustrates, from corporate offices to medical centers and retail storefronts, you can add to a window’s functionality while considering interior style.
