The 75th celebration of the International Sign Association (ISA) International Sign Expo was a rousing success this May. Held in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center the sign industry brought the interest and heat to the city. With Atlanta experiencing temperatures into the 80s with record-breaking humidity, members of the ISA community were resolute in their desire to learn about new technologies.
Above: ISA is active all year long with member-driven in-person and virtual events. However, its expo is a large driver of community gathering.
Products and Applications
Walking the show floor it was evident that despite virtual meetings and events, vendors did not hold back in the research and development department the last two years. Mimaki USA, Inc. promoted the 330 Series, which it officially introduced at Mimaki’s 2nd Annual Global Innovation Days back in March. Vanguard Digital Printing Systems, a Durst Group Company, brought its new VKH900-HS hybrid flatbed printer to the show.
For other vendors there was a concentrated focus on attracting attendees with applications. One example, in the Mutoh America, Inc. booth, the company exhibited dye-sublimation (dye-sub) applications, from the expected soft signage to the less commonly discussed aluminum panel signage.
Epson America also touted applications. A majority of its booth showcased the possibilities of dye-sub from entry-level tabletop—SureColor F570—to industrial wide format—the SureColor F9470.
Elsewhere, Canon Solutions America showcased its portfolio from the Colorado roll printer series to Arizona flatbed printers. DigiTech brought its TruFire LT/X2. The printer is designed for large print shops that need real output capable of running all day at more than 60 sheets per hour. Fluid Color LLC displayed the R84F Turbo flatbed equipped with Ricoh Gen6 printheads. swissQprint went flashy, with neon inks a focus, outputting on its Nyala 4 flatbed. The printer is part of the company’s fourth generation of flatbed printers.
