We go indoors with the honorable mention winner of this year’s Application of the Year contest. TPM Color Lab was recognized for its work for Elevation Church. The multi-faceted wall graphic is an ideal representation of the work the print service provider (PSP) completes on a daily basis.
Located in Greenville, SC, TPM Color Lab employs 18 staff members out of a 10,000 square foot facility. It works closely with faith-based, corporate and manufacturing companies to guide them through the process of activation and branding their spaces. This includes digitally printed wallpaper and vinyl, acrylic, PVC, as well as in-house millwork and installations.
In business since 1992, the PSP regularly works with Elevation Church. The religious institution is a repeat customer, requesting help from TPM Color Lab to create unique, branded messaging and graphics for its multiple campuses around NC. The job for its Matthews, NC-based location is what TPM Color Lab submitted for the 2023 Application of the Year awards.
Elevation Church was looking “to create a type of play on words with a message but also be very clean, modern, and classy,” explains Dustin Batson, VP, TPM Color Lab. To meet these goals, the PSP painted the 33×12-foot wall in question, then applied 3M adhesive vinyl that was printed on a Canon Colorado UVgel device and kiss cut on a Roland DGA Corporation CAMM-1 GR-640.
After the vinyl was applied, 200 two-inch wide slates of 0.5-inch thick black PVC were cut on a Colex Finishing, Inc. router and then spaced and installed over the vinyl using 3M VHB and a nail gun to create the overall desired look.
Batson says the messaging of the wall mural in addition to the simplicity of the application drew him to submit the job for this year’s contest.
“We submitted this application to showcase how less can sometimes be more and give you a fantastic outcome to a project. We simply took two materials and created a dimensional effect to engage the viewer to think more deeply ‘See What God Can Do Through You’. In the world right now, I could not think of a better challenge statement than this,” shares Batson.
2023 has treated TPM Color Lab well, with several large, unique projects completed and a full pipeline as it moves into quarter three.
