PRINTING United took place October 18 to 20, 2023, in Atlanta, GA. The show is billed as a must-see event for all-things print.
For the digital wide format segment, several notable product announcements were made at the show. In addition, vendors displayed hardware, media, and software recently introduced prior to the event. We include a brief synopsis here.
Canon U.S.A., Inc. enhanced its Colorado M-series of UVgel printers. New features include a magnetic media kit, a temporary speed license, one liter bottles of white ink, and a jumbo roll interface.
DigiTech introduced the TruFire LTX2 and the Canon Solutions America Texas LTX2 with orange or varnish ink.
DreamScape debuted Duralon. It sets a new standard as a commercial-grade Type II printable wallcoverings, and what makes it even more remarkable is its PVC-free composition.
Elitron America Inc. showcased its cutting tables—Kombo TH and Kombo SDC. True end-to-end workflow was shown live in its booth thanks to a partnership with Significans Automation, a third party integrator.
Enfocus announced the upcoming release of Enfocus Review—an online proofing solution that redefines efficiency and collaboration in customer review cycles, offering a centralized, effortless, and integrated approach to proofing and feedback.
Fisher Textiles unveiled GF5600 Raw Canvas, GF5020 Gumbee, ET9118 White-Out, and GF8819 DS Nirvana. GF5600 Raw Canvas is a 100 percent cotton canvas with a natural beige finish. GF5020 Gumbee is a stretch fabric with near equal stretch and an excellent white point. ET9118 White-Out is a printable blockout with a face made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled polyester and a coated back for opacity. GF8819 DS Nirvana has a unique construction with two layers of GF4019 Nirvana black-back laminated together for extreme opacity.
General Formulations released two AutoMark Cast Laminates—GF 813 AutoMark Cast 1.3 Mil Gloss Clear and GF 844 AutoMark Cast 2.0 Mil Ulti-Matte Clear. Both offer protection from UV exposure, moisture, and abrasion and are designed for full vehicle wraps, partial wraps, and fleet graphics.
Hasler Cutting Systems announced a five-meter wide digital flatbed XY cutter, equipped with the latest Optiscout software, delivering quality, versatility, and affordability. Optiscout software empowers users with advanced capabilities for precision cutting, ensuring optimal results for a diverse range of materials and applications.
HP Inc. exhibited its recently announced HP Latex 630 printer series, which offers smaller sized print service providers HP’s white ink technology.
Lintec of America debuted ECO-2100 ZC, a 100 percent recycled, optically clear, scratch resistant window graphic film—fully compatible with UV inkjet technology. It also introduced E-3000 ZC, which is an optically clear, polyester composition designed for latex printing.
LogoJET launched the Strata Series, entering into the large format space for the first time. The series includes two printers—Luna and Terra. The former, offers a print area of 3.2×5.9 feet, and the latter 4.9×8.2 feet.
Mactac debuted its application-based brand platform, including refreshed product identities and logos, easy-to-use product guides, and selection tools.
Mimaki USA, Inc. showcased its new UCJV330 Series cut-and-print UV LED roll-based printers for signage and graphics applications.
Mutoh America, Inc. exhibited its latest innovation, the XpertJet 1462UF. It features a moving gantry with a large 55×27-inch printable surface area, two four-inch UV LED lamps, two piezoelectric drop on demand dual printheads in a staggered configuration, and prints on objects up to 5.9 inches thick.
Nekoosa demonstrated its new PVC-free line, Nekoosa Promise, which features new and existing PVC-free alternatives for promotional signage and graphic displays. It showcased another new offering—Nekoosa Glass Finishes, which includes a range of printable window films designed to transform the appearance of interior and exterior commercial buildings for privacy and finishing purposes.
Onyx Graphics, Inc. announced that its print business management solution, ONYX Align, is now available in North America. The cloud-based subscription product is designed specifically for wide format, and offers a direct connection to ONYX Thrive.
Ricoh DTG introduced two new direct to garment (DTG) printers. The RICOH DTG Ri 1000X is capable of printing to cotton, blends, canvas, totes, and wood. A new media type setting allows for easy adjustments between printing to white and black garments. The RICOH Ri 4000 features a newly developed pretreatment or enhancer liquid that allows for printing on 100 percent polyester and high-polyester blends with ease.
Summa displayed the new S Class 3 roll cutter series. Tangential or drag knife cutters, the portfolio is equipped with Summa GoSign cutting software. The series also boasts the ability to handle a media roll with a diameter of 20 centimeters and a weight of at least 45 kilograms.
Vanguard Digital Printing Systems, a Durst Group Company, added the Vanguard VK3220T-HS UV LED flatbed printer to its portfolio. The bed size is 126×80 inches, equipped with Kyocera KJ4A printheads, and single-, dual-, or triple-row printhead options are available.
Zund America, Inc. live streamed a demonstration of its new Q-Line with BHS180 and UNDERCAM. It offers the latest in advanced, high-speed digital cutting technology for completely automated, non-stop, pallet-to-pallet industrial production.
