Engineered Printing Solutions (EPS) has been chosen by Epson as its North American partner for the CONTOURJET, a new robotic direct-to-object (DTO) digital printing platform designed to print exceptionally high-quality graphics directly onto complex three-dimensional objects.
Announced as part of the official CONTOURJET launch at PRINTING United Expo 2026 in Las Vegas, Epson’s decision to work with EPS reflects the company’s extensive experience in industrial DTO printing, its established customer base across North America and its reputation for solving demanding production printing challenges.
For EPS, the partnership represents not just the addition of a new direct to object technology platform, it is recognition of the company’s four decades of experience helping manufacturers decorate products, shapes and materials that are often difficult to print using conventional digital methods.
“Epson had a choice of partners across North America and selected EPS,” said Kenneth Stack, Executive Chairman of EPS. “We are honored to have been chosen and believe that decision reflects the work we have spent four decades doing in industrial direct-to-object printing.”
Shunya Fukuda, chief operating officer of Epson’s IJS Operations Division, said: “EPS brings deep application expertise to industrial direct-to-object printing. We are confident this partnership will bring CONTOURJET to manufacturers across North America. EPS will sell the system and provide the applications development, installation, operator training and service support that industrial manufacturers require.”
The CONTOURJET is the result of nearly ten years of development, bringing together Epson’s precision printhead technology and robotics expertise to print on shapes that conventional digital systems cannot reach. By using a robotic motion system to position and reorient an object beneath independently articulating printheads the system can follow the contours of the part and extend digital printing to shapes that conventional fixed-head systems find difficult to print. The platform combines Epson’s digital print technology with the applications engineering and production knowledge required to integrate DTO printing into highly complex industrial manufacturing environments where geometry and exceptional print quality are critical.
Expected to be available through EPS from the first quarter of 2027 the CONTOURJET complements EPS’s existing portfolio of pad printing, screen printing and DTO systems, together with the inks, pads, plates, tooling and consumables that support them. This range allows EPS to recommend the most appropriate process for the part, production volume, performance requirement and commercial case, rather than applying a single technology to every application.
EPS will provide sales, applications development, installation, operator training, service and technical support for the CONTOURJET across the region. Customers will be able to work with EPS from initial application evaluation and sample printing through to installation and ongoing production support.
Kenneth Stack concluded: “The CONTOURJET is a hugely impressive piece of technology, but successful industrial printing is about much more than the machine itself. It requires expertise in applications engineering, surface preparation, ink systems, process development and production support. That is where EPS has built its reputation and why we are excited to bring this technology to manufacturers across North America.”
