Mactac has enhanced its optically clear, industry-leading PERMACOLOR PermaTrans product.
The new and improved PERMACOLOR PermaTrans (PUV2100) second-surface mounting film features a highly advanced, super-clear pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) that delivers faster, more complete adhesive wet-out, and eliminates silvering – even over UV inkjet prints.
“Wet-out, or silvering, is often our customers’ most common adhesive concern when it comes to optically clear second-surface mounting applications,” said Jeff Stadelman, marketing manager, Mactac Distributor Products. “To avoid silvering, the adhesive must flow perfectly into the printed surface. This can be especially challenging with UV inkjet prints because the print surface has more texture than other ink systems. We listened carefully to our customers’ needs and redesigned PermaTrans with a unique adhesive formula that eliminates silvering to better optimize the appearance of face-mounted wide-format prints.”
Similar to Mactac’s original PermaTrans, the new PermaTrans, PUV2100, is a thin, super-clear polyester film coated on both sides with a super-clear acrylic PSA. A clear polyester release liner protects each side, permitting complete visual inspection of the product, easy liner removal and a distortion-free adhesive surface.
PERMACOLOR PermaTrans is ideal for back-lit applications or face-mounting and back-mounting transparencies to glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, Plexiglas and other clear or transparent substrates. It can be used wherever superior clarity and smoothness are required.
PERMACOLOR PermaTrans offers excellent resistance to water, detergents, alcohol and some aliphatic solvents. With PermaTrans, indoor durability of finished graphics can be an astounding 20 years under standard conditions when used with high-quality printing inks. Outdoor durability ranges from 3 to 5 years. It has a 2-year shelf life.
PermaTrans is part of Mactac’s family of PERMACOLOR pressure-sensitive overlaminates and mounting films. Mactac’s PERMACOLOR products provide fast, efficient processing through cold roll lamination techniques without the need for heat, drying or messy coating operations.
