Messe Frankfurt brought Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas back to Atlanta, GA this May. The event, co-produced by SPESA, is billed as an opportunity for retail, brand, manufacturing executives, and professionals to learn more about equipment and technology for the development, sourcing, and production of sewn products.
New to the show this year was The Studio, a microfactory and product development area. In years past, vendors have joined together to demonstrate various iterations of a mircofactory across the show floor. The Studio brought it all together in one area, featuring mini-sessions on microfactory-related topics.
Speaking of illustrating a microfactory, Tukatech showcased a live smart factory that reversed the development process of apparel production with the goal of eliminating waste. Software and hardware joined together to provide a real-life example—live production cutting and spreading for Los Angeles Apparel. The microfactory enabled four products in 12 sizes and 20 prints to be designed, printed, cut, and sewn right on the show floor. This included a dual-head laser cutter and unit production system from Tukatech.
Also harnessing examples of software and hardware achieving productivity was Zund America, collaborating with Mind Technology to present software solutions for every phase of textile production with Zünd cutting systems. Specifically on the floor, a Zünd S3 L-1600 complete with cradle feeder and tooling for cutting a variety of materials.
Lectra demonstrated its AI analytics to 2D/3D design and production solutions to support on demand bespoke and mass production processes. Similar to its peers, the company focused on how digitalization and Industry 4.0 can help brands, retailers, and manufacturers integrate their value stream to meet consumer demands, whether they are producing products on demand or in mass production.
Coming Back Soon
Normally on an even-year cycle, the next iteration of Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas is in 2023. Due to a shift of the events’ parent shows—Techtextil and Texprocess Frankfurt—to an even-year cycle, the North American editions also undergo a cycle change, with the subsequent events scheduled for May 10 to 13, 2023 in Atlanta, GA and remaining in the odd the year after.
