The new Alucobond PLUS naturAL Terra Series – featuring six textured finishes inspired by iridescent stone – will be showcased by 3A Composites USA at the GlobalShop 2018Tradeshow & Conference in Chicago March 27-29.
Show-goers are invited to stop by 3A Composites’ Booth No. 2235 in McCormick Place to view samples of this latest addition to the Alucobond PLUS naturAL aluminum composite material (ACM) line that allow architects to create earthy yet elegant building cladding and corporate identity designs.
Since Alucobond was introduced nearly 50 years ago, architects have turned to this ingenious product to create some of the world’s most visually striking modern structures. Alucobond is specified by architects as high-tech metal cladding for buildings and is used to create custom design elements as well as corporate identity structures and signage.
Alucobond naturAL Terra Series finishes include Arctic Frost, Clear Ice, Lava, Precast Grey, Sierra Sand and Terra Cotta and are available in the 4mm thickness and PLUS proprietary fire-resistant core.
“We wanted to provide architects in the Americas with the opportunity to incorporate these earthy textured-stone looks in their cladding designs while retaining all of the benefits of modern Alucobond PLUS aluminum composite material,” said Doug Twitchell, vice president, marketing, 3A Composites USA. “While the Alucobond Terra Series finishes will sparkle in daylight just like iridescent stone, as aluminum composite panels, they are much lighter weight yet strong and can be formed into unique shapes. Terra Series panels also are weather-resistant and color fast in comparison to many stone surfaces. In addition to the unique iridescent colors in the Terra Series, their textured surfaces offer another design option in our Alucobond ACM line of smooth-surfaced panels.”
(Alucobond PLUS consists of two sheets of 0.020” aluminum thermobonded to a proprietary fire-resistant (FR) core and is manufactured in a standard 4mm thickness. Alucobond PLUS provides extraordinary flatness and rigidity, excellent formability, low weight and outstanding weather resistance. Alucobond PLUS wall panels have a flame-spread index of less than 25 and a smoke-developed index of less than 450 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84, and have a Class A interior finish classification.)
