Framing systems display digitally printed graphics in a safe, enclosed solution with easy assembly. They are ideal for a variety of environments like trade shows, theaters, and other industries that require simplified and fast systems for changing out media. Today’s framing systems are available in a variety of sizes, colors, and finishes.
Available Framing Systems
4Ever Products offers the Standard Frame with a maximum dimension of 60×96 inches. A vinyl frame, it is available in white or khaki or as an aluminum frame in black and white with a powder coating. The vinyl standard frame can be installed with stakes for temporary installation. “We custom rout every frame to the customer’s substrate specifications,” says Rebecca Klco, sales manager, 4Ever Products. The frame handles a variety of substrate sizes and thicknesses. According to Klco, pricing ranges from $127.76 to $353.68.
Ackland Media Frames offers the original Ackland Media Frame and the Ackland Snap-Cap, released in September 2017. Both systems are extruded aluminum, anodized, and offered in a silver anodized finish or powder coated. The frames are a patented self-tensioning design with no moving parts that require no special tools or special finishing on media. Frames are reusable and relocatable. The framing systems are available to ship within 72 hours.
Released in June 2017, the Alpina Fabric Frame from Alpina Manufacturing LLC is an aluminum frame with a maximum dimension of 48×96 inches. It’s offered in black or brushed silver finishing. It is available directly from the manufacturer, with free shipping, and a minimum quantity of one. Pricing varies on size and quantity ordered.
Released in 2012, the Clarke Systems SpringFrame is a silver anodized frame with an overall outside depth of 0.35 inches. It includes a discrete function and offers front-loading insert capabilities via a patented spring mechanism. An anti-reflective acrylic face eliminates glare. The SpringFrame is available as wall mounted, suspended, or a desktop nameplate.
DSA Phototech offers a Backlit LED Frameless Fabric Light Box for use with silicone edge tension fabric graphics. It handles graphic sizes up to 120×204 inches. The frame is an aluminum extrusion frame available in standard finishes of silver and powder coated black, although custom finishes are available. It’s offered in single- and double-sided versions with hardwire or plug options. The frame has an internal power supply and offers optional feet for a standalone display.
Global Imaging offers REXframes in silver and black. According to Joran Hueth, Western territory sales representative, Global Imaging, each extrusion is ten feet but with joiners there are few limitations regarding size. REXframe systems are lightweight, include 25 types of aluminum extrusions, and available as light boxes, frontlit displays, and specialty structures. Pricing ranges from $1.62 to $17 per foot.
Joseph Struhl Company, Inc. offers Frame-It, released in 1996. It features a maximum dimension of 48×48 inches, offered in black plastic with a satin finish. According to Cliff Stevens, managing director, Joseph Struhl Company, Frame-It is affordable and modular, with a do-it-yourself version available. It is designed to work with 3/16-inch and four millimeter sign panels. Used for mounted prints or direct large format prints on foamboard, it can also be used with corrugated plastic.
Tensioning Solutions Inc. released the TS44 in 2014. It is the company’s sturdiest extruded aluminum bar design for medium to extra-large signs. Used for building structures, exhibition booths, three-dimensional signs, and standalone signs, it is offered in aluminum with a mill finish and handles banners and signs less than 5,000 square feet. It’s available for $85 or $7.47 per foot. The frame is compatible with vinyl, mesh vinyl, canvas, fabric, polyester, poplin, and other materials supple enough for insertion to the aluminum channels.
Tex Visions offers the Snap Frame Wall Portrait with a maximum dimension of 11.7×16.5 inches and a frame thickness of nearly two inches. It’s an aluminum frame offered in silver with rounded corners and an anti-glare plastic sheet. The frame is single sided and requires no assembly. It can be mounted in landscape and portrait formats.
