The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) holds its annual expo every Fall. This year, the trade show takes place in Las Vegas, NV at the Las Vegas Convention Center. At press time, the exhibit floor was sold out with over 500 vendors scheduled. In continuation of our preview from the September issue, here we share additional companies’ plans for the SGIA Expo.

A.W.T. World Trade Inc., booth 4125, whether you are a digital printer looking for more efficient UV curing or a screen printer who needs to dry a lot of t-shirts quickly, consider the comprehensive line of dryers and curing units from A.W.T. Adams Magnetic Products, booth 4206, supplies wide format magnet sheets, magnet-receptive material, and all types of magnets—magnetic latches and assemblies—used in creating signs. Its magnets allow signage to be quickly, neatly updated with minimal tools and no training. The company offers a full selection of product configurations, magnetic strengths, surface laminates, thicknesses, widths, lengths, and custom shapes for almost any application. Advantage Sign & Graphic Solutions, booth 2627, features Aristo cutters, which are used for production of signage, industrial gasket making, short- to medium-run package production and prototyping, road and highway signage, and fabric production. Aristo cutting solutions allow users to complete jobs quicker with less labor. The vacuum zoning options along with the multi head allow Aristo cutters to complete jobs faster without tool changes during production.
Agfa Graphics, booth 2019, debuts for the first time in North America two wide format UV printers. The Jeti Titan S and HS FTR 122×79-inch now feature digital primer for lower cost outdoor signage printing. The 126-inch Anapurna M3200i RTR is a six-color, heavy-duty system designed for indoor/outdoor applications. The MGI Meteor DP8700XL is also at the booth as part of a new partnership between the two companies.
AGL, booth 647, displays its latest laminator. The Patriot is designed specifically to laminate UV flatbed prints and images. Anyone who has attempted laminating these types of prints understands the difficulties involved with the process. The Patriot features AGL’s nip roll design with 12-inch diameter unwinds; two eight-inch diameter, perfectly concentric nip rolls, available with or without heat; and speeds of up to 30 feet per minute.
AlumiGraphics, booth 1702, releases the latest version of AlumiGraphics. Designed for applications on rigid walls, AlumiGraphics Smooth features a non-glare satin finish, is widely compatible, and easily conforms to rough or smooth textured outdoor walls. At the 2013 SGIA Expo, AlumiGraphics Grip won digital media product of the year. Made of pliable and durable aluminum foil, it applies directly to outdoor walkways with no heat source or overlaminate.
American Ink Jet Corporation, booth 2313, is one of America’s most experienced and dynamic developers and manufacturers of inkjet inks. Started in 1983, it develops and manufactures inks for many OEMs and aftermarket applications. Visit the booth and check out the company’s newest products including compatible inks and remanufactured cartridges for the HP Z6200, Epson 9900, as well as its Eco-Jet Mild-Solvent Inks for Mimaki, Mutoh, and Roland printers.
Arlon Graphics, booth 721, exhibits its full line of digital print films for vehicle graphics, interior and exterior wall applications, as well as backlit illuminated graphics. Asphalt Art, booth 4469, offers versatile, durable, non-slip media for outdoor/indoor floor and wall graphics. New is SoftWalk, a unique expanded foam media for dramatic effects. Other products include Asphalt Art, a conformable media for outdoor advertising; SportWalk, a textured vinyl for short-term outdoor use; CatWalk/ClearWalk for point of purchase graphics and wet areas; and TexWalk, a repositionable vinyl for murals, advertisings, and trade shows. Asphalt Art media is manufactured by Jessup Manufacturing Company.
Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, Inc., booth 1201, manufactures inkjet printable fabrics for dye-sublimation, solvent, latex, and UV-curable printing technologies up to 120 inches wide. This year, it shows additions to the Northern Lights Printable Textiles product line including a new matte artist canvas and wall graphics/covering solutions. It also displays fabrics optimized for latex printing with ColorPRO Technology that deliver superior image quality, reliability, and durability.
Beaver Paper & Graphic Media Inc., booth 2727, delivers a selection of TexPrint Sublimation Papers for water- and solvent-based printers in a variety of sizes and rolls, including cut sheet sizes and new mug-sized sheets. A fresh lineup of TexStyles Imaging Fabrics for sublimation direct and transfer printing platforms is now available, and ProTex is a cost-effective protection tissue for calendar heat presses. All products meet industry standards and are compatible with OEM inks, printers, and heat presses.
Bordeaux Digital PrintInk, booth 1401, unveils new ink solutions for the Canon Océ Arizona and Fujifilm Acuity. The new PLASMA AR and PLASMA AC are Mix&Match to OEM inks, for simple, zero downtime installation; excellent image quality; and adhesion on a range of media. Live demonstrations on the Fujifilm Acuity, FUZE ECO PR4 on Roland XR, and the complete line of the company’s coating products are also in the booth.
Caldera, booth 2769, showcases its Web to print solution. The Caldera WebShop is a full-featured solution that allows print providers the freedom to tailor their online store to individual needs. The Software as a Service product can be integrated with Caldera’s Flow+ and RIP solutions to provide a complete sales-to-production system. Highlights include the ability to create multiple shops, with different products and prices for specific customers or target markets, and various product categorization features with unlimited numbers of categories and sub-categories supported.
Catalina Graphic Films, booth 4041, demonstrates Opti-Cling with Enviro-Cling technology, an 8-mil clear static cling vinyl on a clear film liner that is eco-friendly and recyclable. Laminated to a matte clear liner for ease of printing and die cutting, Opti-Cling with Enviro-Cling technology applies quickly to most smooth surfaces, removes easily, features a two year indoor durability, and is compatible with offset, screen, eco-solvent, solvent, latex, and UV-curable printing.
CET Color, booth 3713, brings a UV flatbed and hybrid portfolio. It demonstrates value-added combinations of hardware, software, and consumables that make solutions for wide format printing more attractive, affordable, and profitable. Shown at the booth is the K-Series K500, a 5×10-foot true UV flatbed; the Q-Series Q5-500 4×8-foot true UV flatbed; the Q5-250h 64-inch UV hybrid for $62,499; and the Q5-250 3.25×5-foot true flatbed.
Cooley Group, booth 4629, launches its new line of environmentally conscious media solutions, including Enviroflex PE with ColorPRO Technology—a lightweight, non-PVC, recyclable print media substrate solution designed specifically for HP Latex printers; and frontlit solutions Enviroflex PE 2.8—poster and banner print applications—and Enviroflex PE 4.2—outdoor billboards and banners; available in widths up to five meters. Also showcased is Coolflex Blockout, which is a 13 oz. ultra-smooth, double-sided substrate for indoor and outdoor banner applications.
Coveris Advanced Coatings, booth 325, introduces three new wallcovering products, Sleek, Pebble, and Weave in the Magic line. They are ideal for murals, point of purchase displays, and decals. Magic also offers alternative inks. Magic Inks are formulated to deliver the highest performance with pristine image quality, accurate color reproduction, and print longevity. Most recently, Magic introduced PCW-Matte, a 14.3-mil, 100 percent post-consumer waste, universally printable matte paper made in the U.S.
Cyrious Software, booth 2575, presents new capabilities in its Control product. First, multiple merchant credit card accounts can now be processed within Elavon, the processor integrated into Control. This is especially helpful for businesses with multiple divisions, lines of business, or locations and has an accounting need to set up separate merchant credit card accounts. Second, there’s a new and faster method of updating actual part usage on a specific job directly in an order.
DigiFab Systems, booth 353, promotes its flagship StampaJet fabric printer line, running EX Textile pigment inks, on DigiFab pretreated fabrics, driven by Evolution RIP, and cured with a DigiHeat rotary heat press. DigiFab is an innovative developer and manufacturer of software, supplies, and equipment for the digital printing industry. It is recognized for its groundbreaking processes and patents for readying fabrics for use in digital printers.
DreamScape, booth 3867, premieres its DreamScape Criss-Cross and a wider width 75-inch, 20 ounce DreamScape Suede. The company offers digitally printable wallcovering media for solvent, eco-solvent, UV-curable, and HP Latex inks. DreamScape is a certified commercial grade wallcovering available in 20 exciting textures, optically tuned for digital printing.
Durst Image Technology US, booth 401, is one of the world’s premier manufacturers of digital inkjet printing solutions built for performance, efficiency, and reliability. For SGIA 2014, Durst introduces technological advances, which align with the rapidly evolving needs of the large format print communications marketplace.

Edward Segal Inc., booth 707, exhibits grommet machines. It features the 4KGW Fully Automatic Machine and 3P5 Press. Both are made in the U.S.
EnCore Products, booth 2779, manufactures foamboard. Expand Systems, booth 2481, in partnership with MS Italy, looks to revolutionize the digital textile business in the U.S. with custom digital printing solutions. At the show, the ES Diva, new MS JP4 sublimation printer, and MS JP7 direct printer are on display. Falconboard from Hexacomb, booth 4659, launches Falconwood, an alternative to wood for semi-permanent display, exhibit, and signage applications. This latest addition to the Falconboard family of sustainable graphic display board products is engineered to provide significant advantages over wood including printability, weight, and ease of handling. Now brand owners and retailers can still achieve the visual and tactile experience of wood, but with up to 85 percent less weight and at a lower total cost.
Fisher Textiles, booth 2234, one of the leading suppliers of fabrics for dye-sublimation (dye-sub), UV, and direct digital printing has on hand all of its fabrics for apparel, backlit, banner, exhibit graphics, flag, gaming table, home furnishing, retail display, silicone edge graphics, tension, and wallcovering applications. Fujifilm, booth 2454, displays the Onset R40i UV flatbed. The R40i utilizes Fujifilm Dimatix Spectra printheads, delivers a 14 picoliter drop size, and is based on the company’s Onset Scalable Architecture platform. Maximum resolution is 1,200 dpi, it features a maximum print area of 123.6×63 inches, and accommodates media up to two inches thick.
GBC and Seal, booth 2271, showcase products to produce any application. From GBC, find the new thermal Spire III 44T and the cold Spire II 54C laminators both packed with features to prove that performance doesn’t have to be expensive. Master Magnetics, Inc., booth 3246, offers wide format printing directly onto flexible magnetic material up to 40-inch widths, with custom cutting and slitting. PrintMagnetVinyl allows for high-resolution printing using solvent, eco-solvent, UV, and latex ink systems. For aqueous inks, PrintMagnet is available with a paper topcoat. MCT, Inc., booth 521, demonstrates two of its new, made in the U.S. digital cutting systems. The Versa-Tech 1.6-meter system with a 5×10-foot cutting area is shown with a 60,000 rpm liquid cooled router and a full set of tangential knife cutting tools. Also on display, the Versa-Tech 3.2-meter laser system with a 10×10-foot cutting area and powered roll feeding system.
Mimaki USA, booth 3158, showcases the new Mimaki JV300 Series high-productivity printers, which deliver outstanding image quality and reliable performance with many cost-saving features. Available in 54- and 64-inch models, each printer features eight ink channels and nine eco-solvent ink colors for a range of indoor and outdoor applications—point of purchase displays, posters, exhibits, backlits, banners, window graphics, and vehicle wraps. SB53 dye-sublimation inks are available for textile printing. All JV300 Series printers shipped in North America include two-liter bulk ink packs—except white ink.

Roland DGA Corp., booth 2759, brings the new Roland DisplayStudio, a turnkey digital sign system designed to complement the print offerings of sign shops. Roland also showcases its versatile, efficient, and affordable VersaEXPRESS RF-640, as well as popular inkjets from the SOLJET Pro 4, VersaCAMM VSi, VersaStudio, and VersaUV series. Rollem International, Delta Die Cutting division, booth 2285, previews the new Delta Die Cutter, a flexo-magnetic rotary die-cutting machine. The Delta kiss and die cuts labels, decals, and stickers. It is available in both 20×15- and 30×24-inch sizes. The Champion SS is a lower volume slit/trim/kiss-cutting machine. With a margin of accuracy within 1/10,000th of an inch and speeds up to 26,000 sheets per hour, the Champion SS guarantees higher profits on all partial slitting needs.

Screen USA, booth 2081, promotes the next-generation Truepress Jet W3200UV HS. It is Screen’s high-productivity, high-quality UV flatbed inkjet printer offering speeds of 1,615 square feet per hour. Six colors plus white print onto paper and board up to 125.9×62.9 inches and 1.9 inches thick. Multi-layer function enables front/back overprinting up to eight layers. Nozzle mapping, auto cleaning, and collision prevention sensors for the printhead carriage increase uptime.
Seiko Instruments U.S.A., Inc., booth 2849, introduces the ColorPainter H3-104s grand format printer, which delivers unmatched speed and quality with low-smell SX inks ideal for odor-sensitive print environments and applications. Also featured is the versatile ColorPainter M-64s, designed for mid- to high-volume digital print shops that want fast creation of sellable output, low running costs, low-smell ink, and an easy-to-operate printer. The ColorPainter W-64s and Jetrix UV flatbed are also demonstrated.
Sensient, booth 3395, premieres new water-based pigmented inks for printing onto cotton, offering very high wash resistance and brilliant colors. Ultraflex Systems Inc, booth 607, unveils a new, comprehensive product line that will blow customers’ away. The company is a leading supplier of quality digital print materials for UV, eco-solvent, solvent, latex, dye-sublimation, and screenprinting media solutions. VKF Renzel USA Corp., booth 1704, is a leading producer and supplier of innovative display and point of purchase solutions. Zünd America, Inc., booth 2071, highlights an automated production workflow based on automatic QR code capture and a robotic off-load system. Capable of processing stacks of randomly nested printed sheets or rolls, the system automatically and instantaneously retrieves the corresponding cut files and finishes them—all while the robotic arm continually picks up and stacks the cut/finished parts.
