The December issue of Digital Output magazine explores advancements in resin/latex and eco-solvent roll-to-roll (R2R) printers. To round out the piece, here we highlight resin/latex printers and eco-solvent R2R printers available on the market today.
The Epson SureColor R5070 is a 64-inch, R2R resin printer. The device is designed to consistently produce professional quality wallpapers, fabrics, vinyl, uncoated papers, and more with consistent, repeatable color at speeds of up to 290 square feet per hour, Touting 2.6-inch user replaceable PrecisionCore MicroTFP printheads coupled with Epson UltraChrome RS Resin ink technology it produces high-quality, scratch-resistant output that is ready for immediate lamination. It is designed to offer consistent color job-to-job and panel-to-panel ideal for repeat jobs, wall tiling applications, large banners, and wall displays. With a three-heater drying system, a 4.3-inch touchscreen control panel, and fabric wiper system to clean printheads and remove dust, the SureColor R5070 keeps up with fast-paced print shops.
The HP Latex 800 printer series uses water-based inks to enable a more comfortable and welcoming operation. HP Latex Technology is designed for sustainable impact through printer and cartridge materials, ink chemistry, printer operation/print production, the print itself, print display, and product through its end of life. HP recently launched a new entry-level HP Latex printer series, the HP Latex 630. Both a standalone and print-and-cut bundle option give print providers an affordable white ink option.
Among Mimaki USA, Inc.’s R2R eco-solvent options, the JV330 Series features a multiple media roll handling unit, integrated XY slitter, in machine lighting, V-shaped cut function, two staggered printheads, and Mimaki Remote Access technology. The printer offers commercial level workflows and quality for high-demand print businesses. The JV330 is able to produce a wide range of sign and graphic applications including durable banners, signs, and posters for internal and external use.
The Mutoh America, Inc. XpertJet (XPJ) 1682SR Pro 64-inch eco-solvent printer is equipped with
staggered dual AccuFine HD printheads that provide ultra-fast print speeds. It’s capable of producing smooth gradations while delivering high-quality printing, even with reduced resolutions, thanks to the optional eight-color (CMYKLcLmLkOr) ink configuration. Built for professionals, the XPJ-1682SR Pro is packed with features such as Dropmaster 2 automatic bi-directional alignments, Feed Master automatic PF adjustment, Automatic Nozzle Checking Unit option with Nozzle Area Select for continuous printing, i-screen print effects for banding mitigation, and Media Tracker for roll remainder tracking, among other improvements brought on by the original XpertJet line. The XPJ-1682SR Pro includes VerteLith RIP software, bundled with FlexiDESIGNER MUTOH Edition 21 for the ultimate balance of speed and quality.
Providing media versatility, the Ricoh USA, Inc. Pro L5160e R2R wide format latex printer delivers quality and durability for both indoor and outdoor applications. Designed for demanding production environments, this system offers four-, five-, or six-color configurations with CMYK, CMYK + White, or CMYK + Orange and Green. Built for years of dependable use, the Pro L5160e features high-performance Ricoh AR latex inks offering vivid, long-lasting color and durability. Ricoh’s MH5441
stainless steel printheads offer extended life versus consumable-based printhead technologies, enabling the Ricoh L5160e to provide a reliable and predictable total cost of ownership and easing the burden of job estimating.
